Fire
This past week, Executive Director Bruce Hersey and his wife, Debbie, had a house fire.  Thankfully, they were not hurt, there was no structural damage, but there was a fair amount of loss from soot damage.
This close call has made all of us think on life.....its tenuous nature, its importance, and our purpose and place in it.
What is our highest calling in life?
According to Deuteronomy 6:5,  "You shall love the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your might."  Jesus took it a step further in Luke 10:27b, by adding, "... And, 'Love your neighbor as yourself.'"
Every day our lives are filled with tasks---some of them important, others seemingly urgent, but truthfully not in the grand scheme of things.  What is our motivation for what we do?  Is it to make life easier for ourselves, to make others happy, or to do “good” in this world to bring glory to He who created us?  In all that we do, we need to think about not only our motivations, but in the importance of what we spend our time doing.  Life is a gift with a time limit, with an end time that we do not know.
