To:  The Open Door Mission,

I have been helping out at The Open Door Mission on and off about 8 or 9 years.  I am a 62 year old senior.  I have worked regular jobs up until 2 years ago. I have become a Diabetic about 6 years ago.  In those 6 years, I have not been able to get a regular job.  I worked through Experience Workers for almost 2 years. Most places were unable to keep me on financially and my age was against me.  About 1 year ago, I almost died, after my husband of 39 years died suddenly.  All my doctors wanted me to keep busy.  The Open Door was the answer.  I have gone back to The Open Door volunteering.  I enjoy the friendship and when everyday things get me down I can talk to Bruce and others, who try to help one way or another.  They visited me in the hospital and even checked on me at home.  I enjoy sharing my skills and experiences with the young people who are trying to better themselves and learn. Some need to just talk.
