Want to help?

Now that we are in our own building, there are tasks that we could use help with.

We are looking for people that would like to help out in different ways:

  • PRAY! Give us your contact information so that we can connect you with others who want to pray as part of an Intercessory Prayer Team for The Open Door Mission.
  • Regular maintenence (electricians, plumbers, carpenters, refrigeration, automotive, etc.)
  • Regular drivers (we deliver a large quantity of "gleaned" food to people)
  • Emergency repair (electricians, plumbers, carpenters, refrigeration, automotive, etc.)
  • Special Projects ("Coming Together for Hope" festival, "Big Balloon Breakfast," other upcoming events, etc.)
  • Capital Campaign team (raising the funds to purchase our new building)

If you would like to submit your name, contact information, and what area you would want to sign up in (ie--Regular Maintenence, specializing in automotive repair, or whatnot), please contact us!

We can also use donated food items, cleaning supplies, toiletries, etc.   What we do not use on-site is distributed through agencies and individuals to a network of people who are in need.

If you would like to be scheduled to serve a meal, you can look at our serving calendar at:  http://www.localendar.com/public/Opendoor-ny or through our Serving Schedule Calendar link on our website to see if there are any available dates that you would like.  Please note that most Saturday meals are "outsourced" to local churches, so we do not schedule any additional volunteers for those days.

Volunteers to distribute food are also needed.

If you are interested in receiving more information on ways that you can volunteer, or would like to reserve a meal serving slot, please contact us!

Thank you for your willingness to serve!

As a not-for-profit organization, the Open Door does not have an excess of funds, but we do have regular bills (including rent, utilities, insurance, etc.). Any amount of financial contribution you are able to make would be greatly appreciated.  Please note that all contributions are tax-deductible.
If you have any further questions regarding this topic, please feel free to contact us.
